Interview with Stephanie Mitchell, General Manager, Go Gorgeous by 931 Beauty Co.
Tell us a little bit about how long you've been in the beauty industry and what originally inspired you to start your career?
At the age of 15, I stumbled upon the masterpiece "Making Faces" by Kevin Aucoin, and it was nothing short of a revelation. The mesmerizing transformations within its pages sparked a creative passion, overshadowing any other career aspirations. At 18, I moved to New York City. I immediately got on the subway to the Union Square Barnes & Noble , where I bought my own copy of that transformative book. Without hesitation, I delved into the world of beauty, and for over two decades, it has been my unwavering professional path.
Have you had any memorable learning lessons along the way?
Be selective about the jobs you accept. Not every opportunity is the right fit for you. Assess each one to ensure it aligns with your skills and goals. Saying yes to the right jobs contributes to your professional growth and satisfaction.
Where would you say your creative inspiration comes from?
Travel and different cultures inspire most of my creativity. Experiencing new places and ways of life broadens perspectives and sparks fresh ideas. The diversity encountered during travel contributes to a richer understanding of the world, influencing various aspects of my creativity and outlook.

How do you maximize the hours in your day when wearing so many hats?
Boundaries prevent overloading, ensuring a better work-life balance. A quiet environment minimizes distractions, enhancing focus and productivity.
If you could give one piece of advice to young ladies just dipping their toes in the beauty industry, what would it be?
Embrace continuous learning and stay true to your unique style. The beauty industry is dynamic, so keep evolving with trends and techniques. But, always let your authentic creativity shine through – it's what sets you apart and makes your work exceptional.
