If you're worried about turning grey, it's sadly not the only change that happens as the years tick by. Our hair can also lose volume and thickness. Luckily, with the following 8 tips that you can try to enjoy fuller looking hair.

Cut your hair often

Ideally, you should schedule a haircut every two months (even better if you can do it every six weeks). Trimming your hair regularly doesn't only ensure that it stays healthy, but it can also improve its fullness. For example, if you have lots of layers, your hair can start to lose its volume when the layers grow out.
Opt for a bob (or something mid-length)
A shorter haircut style, such as a short bob, helps your hair to look fuller. And, when your hair grows longer, your shoulders can also help to give it a much needed lift (literally).
A mid-length haircut is also one of the shorter haircut styles that can work. Though, just make sure that you keep the bottom blunt. This haircut can be a win-win. It will not be as heavy as a longer haircut, yet not too short.

Layers

If the bob doesn't get your nod of approval and you want to have long hair, it's key that you add layers. By going with a cut that has a couple of layers, your hair will look slightly thicker. Though, it should only be a few layers. If you add too many layers, you will most likely find that your hair will fall flat as it can't maintain that shape.

Make sure your hair is always clean

So, while this sounds like obvious advice for anyone, it's even more important if you struggle to add volume to your hair as oily hair will let your hair look limp and thin.
Though, don't just grab the first bottle of shampoo. Read the ingredient list and try to avoid parabens and sulfates. You can also add dry shampoo to your shopping list. The beauty of dry shampoo is that it can eliminate extra oiliness that can weigh down your hair.
Still on the topic of hair products, if you're going to apply product, avoid using too much. Just like with excess oil, too much product will only weigh down your hair.

Take care (and the time) to dry your hair completely

If your hair looks wet, it will look thin too. This also means that you will get better results by avoiding styling products that have a glossy sheen. Instead, opt for a product that has a matte finish.
For even extra volume, blow dry your hair while your head is upside down. You can also try to pull gently on the roots.

Use curling irons

Soft waves can also add loads of volume to long, fine hair. There are many styling tools available for curling your hair, but if using one of these tools sounds like too much work for a few soft waves, you can also create the look by fastening your hair in loose braids before you go to bed. Then, in the morning you simply unfasten the braid, shake it out and use sea salt spray to add more texture.

Add height to your crown

This is one of the easiest hacks for giving your hair that extra volume. Simply brush your damp hair with a round brush by applying an upward movement when brushing the root area while blow-drying your hair.

Use clip-ins, wigs or extensions

While all these tips are "natural" solutions for volume, there's nothing wrong with trying extensions, wigs or clip-ins. Not only will they add volume, but they can also add length too.
