We spend all year planning how we are going to spend our summer. Going on a vacation is usually the first thing that comes to our minds, but after we enjoy the beach for a couple of weeks, we should pick up the hobbies we gave up because of our busy schedules.

If you have never had a hobby, this summer is definitely the right time to find one. Here are some creative hobbies that are worth trying.

Craft Candles

There are a lot of stores that sell scented candles in different colors, and it's easier to buy them than make them. But there is a different kind of satisfaction that comes with crafting a candle with the color, scent, and essential oils that you prefer. Moreover, hand-made candles make perfect gifts for your loved ones and will make them feel appreciated. You can personalize them according to your friends' tastes. Also, lavender-scented candles help people sleep better and keep the nightmares away.

Cooking and Baking

for the foodies out there, don't you ever taste food and think to yourselves that it needs more or less salt? Well, you can start cooking your own meals and create recipes that you can someday share with the world. Additionally, psychologists say baking helps reduce stress and anxiety after a long, exhausting day. Try cooking with your family or loved ones. That way, you can spend some quality time together while engaging in a fun, delicious activity.

Photography

Remember when you wanted to capture your mother's smile? Or that beautiful sunset on the beach? Photography is a great way to preserve your dearest memories, and it's even better when you are the one taking the photos. You don't have to buy an expensive camera to take the perfect shots; you can search for photographer resources and courses to give you adequate tips to start your hobby using an affordable camera or even your smartphone. Adjusting the lights and picking the right background are what make a picture artistic and leave people in awe when they look at it.

Drawing and Painting

Quite often, people wish they had the talent to start drawing to express their feelings on a white canvas. Fortunately, you don't have to be talented or experienced; painting is like any other thing in life, if you know the basics and practice regularly, you will be able to do it. You don't have to be Dali or Van Gogh, you just need to be yourself. While your paintings may be influenced by your favorite painters, in time, you will develop your own style, and who knows, you may even exhibit your work in an art gallery someday!

Hiking

Hiking and mountain climbing are those who are into more adventurous hobbies and staying active. It is more common among people with sedentary jobs because they get tired of sitting in an office every day. It helps you connect with nature and walk through protectorates, witnessing their haunting beauty. Going with a group of friends can be much more fun and safer if you're a novice.

Reading

Books are a world of their own; they engage your imagination and expose you to different cultures and history that you never knew existed. Literature, specifically, takes you to different eras and helps you become aware of other perspectives. Why live one life if you can live millions? Philosophy and psychology books explain dilemmas and improve our ability in dealing with hardships logically. Understanding your own mind through books will aid you in making decisions that you won't regret later. You will notice that your creativity levels increase the more you read.

Gardening

You can always tell how meticulous and light a person is by looking at their garden. Some people prefer hiring a gardener, others take gardening into their own hands and choose the seeds for flowers, plants, and fruits they grow. They also water them every day and take out the weeds. Studies show that gardening combats loneliness and feelings of isolation. Being around plants and fresh air on a daily basis gives you the vitamin D you need along with boosting your mental health.

Having a hobby that you love, or trying new ones that constantly challenge you will help you in your life's journey. Hobbies give us a break from our typical routines, allow us to unwind and relax, and make us better prepared to deal with our stressful lives. Be bold and pick a hobby that challenges you to be more active, or choose a slow-paced one that makes you feel alive. You won't know what you enjoy until you try. We all have different interests and preferences; what sounds alluring to us could be boring for others. The bottom line is; you should go after what you love and search for hobbies that broaden your mind and nourish your soul.
