We all love a great movie and there is really no other form of entertainment that captures the imagination in the same way. When you think of some of your favorite films or the classics which appear in all the top 10 lists, they all share some common qualities; great actors, a well-written script, stunning visuals and expert direction. No matter what genre of movie you like best, any film that gets these four elements right, is sure to be a winner. From Scorcese's masterpieces to the artistic achievements of Wes Anderson to the incredibly popular Marvel Movies series, the filmmakers are masters of their craft.

In this article, we will explain what you need to make a quality movie.

1. Great Actors

There's a good reason why Hollywood movie stars get paid the big bucks; when a big name is starring in a movie, it instantly creates a buzz and fans will flock to see their favorite actor's latest performance. There have been some phenomenal actors throughout the different ages of cinema, from Humphrey Bogart to Marlon Brando to Meryl Streep. Certain directors will often cast the same actors in multiple movies because they have a really great connection with them.

Tarantino and Wes Anderson both have their go-to favorites, but perhaps the most famous example is Martin Scorcese. Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci have appeared in many of Scorcese's films and in recent years, he has worked extensively with Leonardo DiCaprio. When it comes to actors creating a buzz, it doesn't get much better than Scorcese's The Irishman, which delighted fans with the casting of De Niro, Pesci and Al Pacino, which contributed to the film's enormous critical and commercial success.

2. Awesome Production

The cast of actors can all put in an Oscar-winning performance, but if the movie doesn't look good, no one is going to enjoy it. The experts at this site explain that there are various factors to consider when it comes to successful movie production. Casting, scripts, storyboards and location scouting are all key steps that need to be completed successfully in pre-production. After that, once filming has started, the production company will focus on the cinematography, quality control, budgeting, health and safety, and anything else which you can think of.

As far as the audience is concerned, cinematography is the most important role of a production company as this will ultimately divide what the audience sees on the big screen. Big epic movies like The Lords of the Rings Trilogy and the Marvel Movies Series had huge production budgets which enabled the directors to create movies which look absolutely incredible at both the movie theater and at home.

3. Master Direction

Actors, producers, cameramen, special effects experts and everyone else that goes into making a movie are like musicians in an orchestra. They have their music, and they play their part, but every piece of music needs a composer, and every orchestra needs a conductor; and this is where the director comes in. A master film director has the vision, knowledge and technical skill to take a script and turn it into something really special.

Some directors are known for one particular genre of movie such as Scorcese and Tarantino who became famous for their early gangster movies. Other directors take on huge epic stories and are trusted by the big movie studios with enormous budgets. Ridley Scott delivered incredible historical epics in Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven which combined amazing acting performances with top-draw direction and incredible set and costume design.

4. An Amazing Soundtrack

Ever since filmmakers first started making movies with sound, music has been used to create a certain vibe or feeling. In horror movies, music is so important because it adds to the suspense and the audience's trepidation and can really elevate the scary parts to new levels of terror. In other movies, the soundtrack can really take the audience back to another time. The cult classic Dazed and Confused was made in 1993 but portrays a class of high school students in the 1970s Texas. As well as their clothes, cars and haircuts being perfect for the time, the soundtrack is composed entirely of music from that era which creates the perfect feeling of nostalgia for the audience watching these scenes from a previous decade.

In other movies, the piece of music in a particular scene ends up becoming synonymous with the scene itself, and whenever people hear the song after that, there is an instant association. One perfect example of this is the song Stuck in the Middle with You which is used in a famous scene in Tarantino's debut movie Reservoir Dogs. Tarantino is now widely regarded as being a master at creating great soundtracks for his movies but no song/scene marriage is as famous as that first one.

With their ability to transport audiences to another time and place, movies really are magical. There are various things which go into a great movie but the classics all combine great performances, production, direction and music. Whether you are a big softie who loves a tearjerker, or you love being spooked by the latest horror flick, there is nothing better than watching a great movie!
