I remember when I was growing up, my dad would read the local newspaper in the morning with his cup of tea, and a plate of runny eggs and toast. In the evenings, he came home by 6pm and would watch the CBS evening news and help us with our math homework. On some nights when he had dinner meetings, he would come home with leftovers for the next day. But then he started traveling more globally as we grew up, and he would only be back home in a handful of days
My top strength is "discipline," which means when my family's schedules were thrown into upheaval during quarantine, I immediately got to work organizing my daughters' maze of online school schedules and modifying my own schedule to keep as much order as possible.
Time is our most valuable resource, yet how many of us secure our calendars in the same way we secure our homes? You wouldn't leave home without locking the door, but we often leave the house without knowing exactly what we're doing that day and when.
I feel I'm at my most productive when I am free to travel, learn, and create without the constraints of geography, an office, or a time card. So, when I founded Final Straw just over two years ago, I sought to develop a company culture that inspired people to approach everyday problems with ingenuity, and was determined to create a team that was 100% remote. Initially, there were people who pointed out all of the reasons that a company operating remotely couldn't be successful; however, I knew that I could make the model work.

Jerricha Hoskins is a licensed cosmetologist, mother of six, and founder of Arcani Coil Care. Even through her darkest days, living in a homeless shelter with her toddler after losing her home and having her vehicles repossessed, Hoskins always dreamt of owning her own business.
She launched Arcani Coil Care just two years ago. Her business features vegan-based temporary hair colors, a men's beard care kit, children's curl mousse, edge control products, leave-in conditioners, lock cream, and more. Despite the challenges, Hoskins chased her dream, which many people thought was far-fetched — owning her own hair care line.
